Lauren is a first year graduate student pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering. As a member of Professor Bashir’s lab, her research focus is in tissue engineering. She is currently working in collaboration with OSF Hospital to 3D print infant hearts out of hydrogel materials for pre-operative planning and surgical training. She is also working on various projects related to the engineering of skeletal muscle-powered robots, known as “bio-bots”.
